Team of 10 Runners raise £903 in 2016 Romsey Relay Marathon.

On the 17th April 2016, 10 members of Ace Liftaway staff competed in the Romsey Relay Marathon at Broadlands Estate. This was the 2nd time Ace Liftaway entered a team for the charity event, and will not be the last! This year’s participants included: Russell Delves, Recycling Manager; Helen Liddell, Recycling Coordinator; Nikki van Geffen, Accounts Assistant; Poppy Belas, Marketing Assistant; Ali Aikman, Sales Representative; Ryan Smith, Apprentice HGV Driver; Sam Graham, Office administrator; Simon Bradbury, Weighbridge Administrator; and Andy Paddick and Dan Hannam, Machine Operators.

64 teams, made up of businesses, schools, charities and a whole array of other organisations took on the challenge this year. Each team member was expected to run two consecutive laps of a 1.3-mile circuit around the estate. A baton would then be handed to the next participant. Although it was all in the name of charity and participants of any ability were welcomed to the event, at 10am on Sunday morning there was a competitive vibe coming from the start line! Our most experienced runner, Sales Representative Ali Aikman, kicked the race off and completed his 2.6 miles in a very impressive time of 16:44.

Together, the Ace team completed 26 miles in 4:19:08. As a result, they came in joint 52nd place. Most importantly, a very respectable £903 was raised for their three chosen charities. These included The Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy Fight FundLeukaemia Busters and Meningitis NOW.

In conclusion, a special thank you goes to everyone who offered support. Whether you attended the event to offer support and spur them on, or you made a donation and helped them reach £903, you made it worth while! Many thanks also to the Romsey Relay Marathon for organising another great event and the opportunity to raise money for three very worthwhile causes.
