Ace Liftaway was established in 1988 by Philip and Melanie Liddell. They started with one truck and eight mini skips. Over a period of time the waste fleet has grown to various different veichles including skip lorries, roll on/roll off vehicles, tipper grab loaders, tipper bodies, tractor units and trailers, a 3.5 tonne mini skip training vehicle and a compactor truck. We have over 1500 skips of various sizes on hire in the south of Hampshire. We are based in Romsey and operate throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Phillip Liddell

In 1996 Ace Liftaway Sanitation Services was established to complement the existing skip hire business. Since then the business has grown and we are able to offer a range of portable toilets and various sanitation units for every application including our range of VIP luxury portable toilets. These units are the best available on the market and are supported by dedicated and professional staff.

In 2002 we moved from its premises at Braishfield, Nr. Romsey, to Yokesford Hill Industrial Estate, at Belbins, Romsey. Here we have been able to build the most technically advanced Waste Recycling and Processing Facility. With this new facility we are able to recycle 90% of all waste brought into Yokesford Hill producing recycled aggregates to a consistent quality which allows re-use back into construction and civil engineering.

Ace Liftaway are continuing to grow and expand the company, training the staff is essential to the company’s future. Various apprenticeships are ongoing within the workshop on a yearly basis, from truck fitters to plant and machinery fitters.

Last year all control room office staff completed customer service NVQ. This helps them understand the day to day running of the office and we feel has had benefits to our increased level of customer service. A BA hons Business Degree was completed by a member of the sales department.

All drivers are currently undergoing their driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), in September 2014 all HGV drivers have to complete 35 hours of training in order to gain their CPC which will ensure that they are safe to drive on the public highway.

The recycling staff completed a NVQ2 in waste management, which enabled them to have a greater understanding of our sector within waste management and recycling Last year in total over 75% members of staff were trained alongside their work in some way.

  • Health & Safety

All new staff, however experienced undergo a rigorous training programme, further on road and site development continues until we are confident that the staff member is competent enough to operate alone, even at this stage training and driver assessment is ongoing. All staff are uniformed and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Communication

The call centre is staffed by full time professional staff who build a relationship with our customers in order to understand their individual needs and requirements. Our call centre and vehicles are all equipped with two-way radios which enables staff to provide estimated times of arrival, half an hour or an hour notice of arrival and to re-route a vehicle in cases of emergency.
